Of all the salad dressings the B.T.C. now makes, buttermilk ranch is the one I snubbed when I moved to the Deep South. People down here stick their wings, cut-up vegetables, and potato chips in it, as well as drenching salads with it. I turned my nose up.

But, y’all, it’s delicious, and my Yankee husband thinks so, too. A certain German PhD here in town has declared she could drink it. We sell chopped salads that are a perfect excuse for eating it. I justify my weekly purchase of a bottle from the B.T.C. cooler like this: It’s fresh, no preservatives or anything like that, and when I stick a piece of broccoli or raw spinach into it, my kids will eat it.

Plus, you can dip chips into it.
